Overlooking the green hills of Essex, this handsome Edwardian house sits in a beautifully mature garden
In 2022 T-Space were invited back by this client. Their brief to design a new bespoke porch for their already impressive Essex home. We had previously worked in an extensive scheme of reconfiguration, restoration and extension on the main house.
Our design for the new porch is in keeping with the architectural detailing and proportions of the main house. Alexandra Dixon Interiors oversaw interiors and construction; great to work with them again too! We hope you agree it adds a stately feel to an already beautiful home. We think it 'makes an entrance'!
The orginal project, overlooking the green hills of Essex, this handsome Edwardian house sits in a beautifully mature garden. The house had been sensitively extended in the past which had successfully preserved the balance of the front elevation. However, the extensions had left an uncomfortable layout internally, creating a procession of similar rooms that lacked hierarchy and created an awkward circulation.
Our brief was to replan the house, to create spaces that would befit a house of this scale and suit a busy young family. This was achieved with some new construction, and some remodelling of the internal fabric to revive a very lovely building. We created the larger family spaces that suit modern lifestyles, and replanned the whole house to provide an easy flowing circulation, so our clients can enjoy the benefits of a large house without losing the intimacy of family life.
