In a crowded world city like London, it's impossible to find a building plot without some kind of constraint. Most are infill plots, brownfield sites, overlooked or under sized. It's to our benefit, because difficult briefs require resourceful architects.
In this instance, we designed a dwelling for a developer in North London. The site is a lovely mature hillside garden. A lovely garden, but a tricky building plot. The design needed to address the issues and exploit the opportunities. We stretched the structural engineer, but it resulted in a substanial property that cascades down the hillside, with mature trees framing glimpsed views across London.
