Given the architectural value of the main house, the design ethos for the extension was to develop it in such a way as to enhance and complement the existing architecture.
The proposed composition consists of 3 elements; in order of importance, the first element is the main house, the second is the main wing of the extension, and the third is the new transitionary link piece between the two.

While the proposed design embraces the differences between old and new, it does not do so at the expense of unbalancing the main elevation or unsettle the rhythm of the main house.
